Questions
Questions about exams, glasses and repairs
Do I need an eye exam if I see fine?
Many eye problems start without any change in how you see. An exam checks the health of your eyes as well as your prescription.
How often should I come?
Many adults come once a year, and some less often. Dr. Vang tells you at the end of your visit, based on your eyes, your health and your family.
Do you work with my vision plan?
We work with many vision plans. Call to confirm yours, and we check your benefits before your visit where we can.
Why was part of my visit billed to medical insurance?
A visit for an eye problem or a follow-up goes to medical insurance, while a routine exam goes to a vision plan. How fees work explains which is which.
Can I fill my prescription somewhere else?
Yes. Your prescription is yours, and you can fill it at any shop. We give you a copy after your exam and fitting.
Can I have my contact lens prescription?
Yes. We give you a copy when your fitting is complete.
Can you repair glasses I bought elsewhere?
Yes. Walk up to the repair desk in any open hour, and we tell you what is possible.
What should I bring?
Your current glasses and contact lenses, your vision and medical insurance cards, and a list of the medicines and eye drops you use.
How much will it cost?
It depends on the exam, the frame, the lenses and the coatings. We give you a written estimate before we order anything. See how fees work.
What should I do in an eye emergency?
If your vision goes suddenly, a curtain falls across it, or an eye is hurt or splashed with a chemical, call us now or go to the nearest emergency room. In a life-threatening emergency, call 911.
